1926 Overprints on 1921 Red Cross Issue





Lähettäjäksi tässä Tallinnasta lähteneessä kirjatussa kirjeessä 15.3.1927 on merkitty A. Landsberg. Vastaanottaja on  Monsieur le Capitaine Hans Kurg, osoite 48, Rue de France, Fontainebleau, Ranska. Perille kirje on tullut 19.3.1927. Aikavälillä 1.2.1925–31.12.1927 taksa I painoluokan (< 20 g). ulkomaan kirjeelle oli 20 Mk. Kirjausmaksu samalle ajalle oli 20 Mk. Saamme yhteissummaksi 40 Mk ja taksa on oikein. Ylipainamamerkit ovat maksaneet kuitenkin 36 Mk, joten lähettäjän varoista on siirtynyt 6 Mk hyväntekeväisyyteen.

1921-1922 RED CROSS ISSUES

Look at this beautiful registered envelope to Zurich! The letter has departed Tallinn 26.9.1921 and there is the Zurich1 arrival-stamp with the date of 29 IX 1921. On the front side there are both 1921 imperforated RED CROSS ISSUES as a pair (altogether 15 Mk) and 10 x TALLIN SKYLINE 35 penni + 10 x Sun Design 15 penni (altogether = 5 Mk) on the backside. During 10.4.1921-31.10.1922 the postal fee of the foreign letter (<20g) was 10 Mk. The registration fee of 10 Mk (same period as letter) is correct. So, the total fee of 20 Mk is correct.

Then, how about this registered letter to Ludwigslust in Germany? The letter has departed Tartu 17.X.1922 and there is the Ludwigslust arrival-stamp with the date of 20.10. 1922. On the back side there are 2 x 2½ Mk + 1 x 5 Mk 1922 perforated RED CROSS stamps (altogether 10 Mk) and 5 x 2 Mk Weaver and Smith  (altogether = 10 Mk). During 10.4.1921-31.10.1922 the postal fee of the foreign letter (<20g) was 10 Mk. The registration fee of 10 Mk  is correct (same period as the letter). So, the total fee of 20 Mk is correct.

This is a 1922 perforated sheet.

Below is 1/4 of the right pane, the upper left corner and so the left margin belongs to the vertical gutter.

The perforation machine was model of 10 x 10 and so the result is clearly visible below: one row is horizontally imperforated. For the right pane horizontally imperforated row is # 11, counted from right.  For the left pane horizontally imperforated row is also # 11, but now counted from left.
