1936-1940 Caritas Charity Issues

 Did you know that "ühisabi"- Collective Aid Fund - or Caritas stamps were issued during 1936-1940 and that all issues were sold over the counter during 9 next months from their issue-date. And... these stamps were valid only one year from the date of their issue.  The Caritas-stamps show the Coat of Arms of various cities and counties of Estonia. 

In 1939 Caritas Issue are these four counties (maakond): 

  

 Viljandimaa, Pärnumaa, Tartumaa and Harjumaa.

This is a registered First Day Cover-envelope to Suomi-Finland. The souvenir sheet of the 1939 Caritas, the block of four, was issued January 10, 1939. The registration fee to Finland during 31.12.1928-5.12.1940 was 0,15 s. So, we have still 0,85 senti to use for delivering the letter. How much letter-weight can you get with that money? The answer is: 281-300 g. That heavy letter to Finland during 1.5.1937-31.3.1939 was 0,85 senti.

Please, remember: the Postal Agreement between Estonia and Finland was valid during 31.12.1928 - 30.11.1940.

In 1940 Caritas Issue are these four counties (maakond): 

  

 Võrumaa, Järvamaa, Läänemaa and Saaremaa.

Tämä on kirjattu pikakirje Tallinnasta 21.IV.1940 Saksan Wolfeniin. Kirje on tullut perille 24.4.1940 ja kulkenut läpi sotasensuurin. Lähettäjä on ollut taitava filatelisti, sillä taksat tällä lähetyksellä ovat tarkalleen oikeita. Aikavälillä 1.4.1939-5.12.1940 postitaksat olivat seuraavat: kirjaus 0,20 kr. kirjemaksu < 20 g. 0,30 kr ja pikamääräys oli 0,60 kr. Yhteensä pitäisi löytyä postimerkkejä 1 Kr. ja 10 sentin arvosta. Näin myös on tilanne.
